The team leading the national fire blight SCRI grant "Comprehensive Fire Blight Management for the United States" is hosting a March meeting (in person or virtual) as well as a webinar series. This multi-state series will address new research on best management practices for fire blight control. You are encouraged to attend these events which will provide cutting edge research recommendations into how to manage fire blight. Each session eligible for some DEC credits (see below for quantities, and bottom of article for direction on how to receive credit).

This training is geared toward certification categories 1A (agricultural plant), 21 (field and forage), 22 (fruit), and 23 (vegetable).

CCE LOFP and CCE ENYCHP are cohosting a virtual stone fruit webinar on March 16th.  We will first hear from Dr. Brett Blaauw from the University of Georgia/Clemson University on the use of mating disruption for peach tree borers.  We will then hear from Dr. Terence Robinson as he gives his recommendations from growing sweet cherries on dwarfing rootstocks under rain covers in New York. 

This program is eligible for .75 DEC credits in categories 1A, 10, and 22.

Strep resistant E. amylovora (SmR Ea) has been found in many parts of New York state in 2022. How worried should growers be who have resistance in their orchards, or in an orchard nearby?

A Certification Exam will be administered on March 24 at 9am by the DEC to Qualified Applicants. The fee for the exam is $100: bring a check payable to NYSDEC the day of the exam.  You must register with DEC to take the exam.
